Friday night on KOXE, the Brownwood Lions will host the Lubbock Estacado Matadors at Gordon Wood Stadium. Kickoff is 7:00 pm. It is Senior Night with a large number of BHS Seniors to be introduced prior to the beginning of the game, so get there early. After the game, the Senior Walk will take place for the last time at Gordon Wood.
While the Lions (6-2, 2-0) cannot yet clinch the District 2-4A Division I title outright or the top playoff seed, Brownwood can secure no worse than a tie for first place in the final league standings and a share of the crown if they defeat the Lubbock Estacado Matadors (4-3, 1-0) in the 7 p.m. home finale.
Estacado is coming off a 42-36 overtime upset of Andrews (5-3, 1-1) last week, which has resulted in even higher stakes for this week’s contest. The Matadors raced out to a 33-14 lead over Andrews last week before the Mustangs rallied to knot the score at 36 and force an extra session. There, a 17-yard touchdown pass on a fourth-and-10 play propelled Estacado to the victory.
