The Brownwood Lions scored early and on every possession through nine times touching the ball in route to a 60-13 victory Friday night at San Angelo Stadium. The Lions improve to 2-0 in district.
“Our focus coming in was to play our game, play at our level and not the level of your opponent,” said Lions fifth-year head coach Sammy Burnett. “Elite teams play at their level all the time, use the gifts that the good Lord has give you, and maximize them to the fullest, and I thought we did that tonight.”
The Lions (6-2, 2-0) – who scored their most points in a game since a 61-14 bi-district triumph over Fort Worth Castleberry in 2019 – rushed for 354 of their 451 total yards, and scored seven times on the ground.
Behind the play of Isaac Gray, Roan Aguinaga, Chris Robinson, Damian Sanchez and Slayde Espinoza, Konlyn Anderson churned out 156 yards and five touchdowns on 17 carries, while quarterback Ike Hall chipped in 126 yards and two scores on 10 totes. As a team, the Lions averaged 12.2 per carry on 29 rushes.
