Brookesmith ISD is proud to announce the addition of Mrs. Megan Whited, Agricultural Science Teacher, to our faculty. Mrs. Whited graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Food Systems with specialization in Agricultural Education. She also earned a Master of Science degree from Western Governors University in Curriculum and Instruction. Her prior experience includes three years on faculty at Willapa Valley School District in Washington State.
While still in high school and active in the National FFA organization Mrs. Whited applied for and was appointed to the Washington State FFA Officer Team as the State Treasurer. In college, Mrs. Whited served as Lead Facilitator of the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences Ambassador Team.
Immediately upon her arrival at Brookesmith, Mrs. Whited established the school’s FFA program. Thirty-nine students joined immediately. As Mrs. Whited explained, “FFA helps with leadership development, personal growth, and preparation for future career success through agricultural-based learning. You are not required to have an animal to be in FFA. It’s about community service, leadership, research projects, making new friends, traveling to new places and discovering new opportunities. Every FFA chapter is different. Some emphasize livestock projects, job skills, community leadership or service.”
Mrs. Whited lives in Early with her husband Matthew, son Campbell and her Labrador Cash and Dachshund Willow.
