Michael Funderburg, 67, of Coleman

Michael Funderburg, age 67, of Coleman, died Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a time of visitation and reflection from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chas Shira, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

He was born Michael Ray Funderburg on April 11, 1955, in Coleman to Claudie Lee Funderburg and Mary Margaret Parkis Funderburg.  Michael grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1974.  After graduation, Michael served in the Army National Guard where he served for over 30 years.  He also worked at Stemple Manufacturing and performed odd jobs around the community.

To know Michael was to love him.  He never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone.  Michael loved his friends in Coleman County and was an avid Coleman Bluecat fan.  He was a member of the Winters Country Club where he played many rounds of golf.  Michael was also an avid gun collector.  His kindness and personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Addie “Del” Funderburg; his parents, Claudie Lee and Mary Funderburg; and his brothers, David Funderburg, Daryl Wayne Funderburg, Larry Don DeBusk, and Tommie Funderburg.

He is survived by his sister, Susan “Susie” Culpepper and husband Jerry of Zephyr; his brother, Stephen Funderburg of Benbrook; his aunt, Geneva Morton of Coleman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
