L J ‘Pappy’ Monroe age 88 of Coleman, Texas passed to the arms of Jesus at his residence on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 9:22 am.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 am at the Talpa Cemetery Pavilion with Donna Butler officiating. Interment will follow with services under the direction and care of Henderson Funeral Home Staff.
L J was born on July 4, 1934 in Talpa, Texas to Earon Homer and Maudie Chloe Akins Monroe. He was raised in his beloved Talpa where he attended Talpa Schools and was a member of the Baptist Church. On August 28. 1959 L J married Dorothy Leverne Grooms in Midland, Texas and they celebrated 21 years of marriage. Dorothy preceded him in death in 1980.
L J proudly served his country as a Private in the U S Army. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying Hunting and Fishing and caring for God’s creatures as a Sheep Rancher. He worked for Ralph Edens from 1960 till 1980’s. In 2005 he moved to Coleman during his retirement.
