Lois Lowrimore Martin of Coleman, TX was born on Jan 19, 1926, and passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2022. She was 96 years old.

Lois was born to Charlie & Annie Lowrimore in Dawson, TX where she was raised with 3 sisters and graduated from Dawson High School. She continued her education at North Texas State University where she earned a degree in education after which she taught first grade at Lilly B. Clayton Elementary School in Ft. Worth, TX.

In the spring of 1947, as a 5’2” spunky beauty, she met a young veterinarian from Coleman, Texas, J. Ray Martin. They were married January 2, 1948 and moved to Coleman where she lived for the next 74 years. Lois & Ray became the parents of three boys, Jim, Joel and Mark. Her greatest vocation in life was as a mother; and when grandchildren came along, she enthusiastically took on that role as well.

Lois and Ray were members of the Elm Street Church of Christ where she taught Bible classes for over 50 years including teaching at the church’s Joy Station Tuesday School into her 80s. She was a mentor to many young women encouraging and instructing them to teach Bible class as well.

Lois was a woman of great character who was equipped with a dry, quick wit who loved greatly and was greatly loved in return. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, hostess, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend to many.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Annie Lowrimore, her husband Dr. J. Ray Martin, DVM, her sister-Mary Louise Gardner, and her sister-in-law Dorothy Hudson.

She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Jim Martin and wife, Mignon, of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Joel Martin and wife, Debbie, of Granbury, and Dr. Mark Martin and wife, Cebia, of Brownwood, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters, Charlene Taylor and husband, Lowell, and Sue Ellen Blazwicz; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Martin and wife, Sarah, Blake Martin and wife, Shawna, Hailey Mulligan and husband, David, Amanda Richards and husband, Mark, Jessica Kindberg and husband, Josh, Garrett Martin and wife, Dannie, Boone Martin and wife, Kate, and Sommer Martin. She is survived by 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Elm Street Church of Christ, 216 W. Elm Street, in Coleman.
