Barry Rose has been an important part of the KOXE Radio family for the past 27 years.  Holding down the mid-day air-shift and playing your favorite requests on “Halfway Home” will come to an end this Thursday  as Barry is hanging up the microphone to enjoy retirement.

His radio career actually began 46 years ago in Saskatchewan, Canada followed by a move to Brownwood and, as they say, the rest is history.

“I think I have my first air check on KOXE from March of 1995,” Rose said.

The walking encyclopedia of music shared many radio memories with staff members who gave Barry a retirement party on Tuesday afternoon.

“Barry is one of the most prepared, knowledgeable and talented on air personalities that we have ever had.  He is well known and respected by artists and agents all over Texas and beyond.  We have all been extremely fortunate to have him here in Brownwood for all of these years. He will be greatly missed”.  Station manager Mitchell Dillard

From commercials to promos to live remote broadcasts and interviews with countless country music entertainers, Barry will always be loved and appreciated for his time here at KOXE.

Who knows, maybe he’ll make a few guest appearances from time to time, if we can get him off the golf course!

KOXE Manager Mitch Dillard is shown with Barry Rose who was presented with gifts of appreciation for his dedicated service to the station and to the listeners of KOXE over the years.
