Bobby Rabon, age 87, died Sunday, June 12, 2022, in the Pecan Bayou Rehab and Nursing Home in Brownwood.

His family will host a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Zacheri Espinoza officiating.

Private family burial will be held at Millersview Cemetery in Concho County, Texas.

Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

Bobby Rabon was born on July 19, 1934 in Stacy, McCulloch County, to Rabe Rabon and Lila Estelle Dillard Rabon.  He grew up in the Doole, Millersview and Melvin communities and graduated from Millersview High School.  When he was young, he was a bareback bronc and bull rider and a calf roper.  He was a former member of the Coleman Rodeo Association.  In 1955 he married Carolyn Coker in Coleman and they celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to her death on December 18, 2015.    In 1962 he purchased a place at Novice where he ranched, raising cattle and goats, as well as training horses. He served about 15 years on the Novice School Board.   Bobby was a loyal Cowboys fan who supported them through good times and bad times.  He was well loved by his family, friends and community and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Lila Frances Dunn and brother, John Alex Rabon.

Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Bowen and husband Gary of Early; his son, Dr. Todd Rabon and wife Kim of Fredericksburg; four grandsons, Rabon Bowen and fiancée Liz Hopkins, Blanton Bowen, Dalton Rabon and Dillon Rabon; two sisters, Noreta Fenton of Winters and Dalpha “Penn” Dement of Lubbock; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that memorials for Bobby Rabon  be made to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund www.justincowboycrisisfund.org  which is an organization that provides need-based financial assistance to athletes injured through their participation in professional rodeo.
