UPDATE – Major Wildfire Burning in Coleman County

The Drissom Fire in Coleman County will now be named the GRISSOM Fire.  The fire remains an estimated 150 acres and 30% contained.  The fire is active, moving in thick juniper and mesquite vegetation. (fire photo courtesy Glenda Phillips)

UPDATE at 8:32 pm Saturday – According to the Texas A&M Forest Service – They have responded to a request for assistance in Coleman County on the Drissom Fire.  The fire is an estimated 150 acres and 30% contained.

A major wildfire is being fought northeast of Santa Anna on County Road 108 in Coleman County. Numerous county volunteer fire departments have responded and the Texas Forest Service has been requested.  County Roads near the fire are blocked from traffic by county sheriff’s deputies.  Please avoid the area.
