According to the Brownwood Police Department – On Thursday, April 28, 2022, at approximately 5:10 pm, Officer Jaylen Bocknite was dispatched to the Food Plaza (2800 blk of US Hwy 377 S) regarding a report of theft. The caller stated that a male subject fled the store after stealing a 6-pack of beer.
Officer Bocknite drove to the area and was able to locate the described suspect in the area of Ave C and 13th St. The male subject turned to face Ofc Bocknite’s patrol vehicle while Ofc Bocknite instructed him to stop. The male then turned and ran eastbound on Ave C until Ofc Bocknite accelerated his vehicle; prompting him to stop a block away.
Officer Bocknite exited his patrol vehicle and detained the subject and identified him as 27 year-old Jeffrey Wayne Allen of Brownwood. Allen was detained for Evading on Foot. While speaking with Allen, his open duffle bag was observed and found to have the described beer inside. The beer bottles were still cold and condensation was easily observed on its side.
Allen was arrested and charged with Evading on Foot.
