Ballinger Teen Dies in Runnels County Wreck

A 16 year old male was killed in a two vehicle accident in Runnels County on Monday. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 83, three miles north of Ballinger at 6:11 p.m. Monday, May 2. According to the preliminary DPS Report, a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by a 16 year-old male from Ballinger, was traveling north on U.S. 83 where it pulled over onto the right shoulder as vehicle two, a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country, approached from behind. The driver of the pickup attempted a U-Turn in front of the Chrysler and was struck on the left side, ejecting the driver in the pickup. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. He was pronounced dead at Ballinger Memorial Hospital and taken to Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. The driver of the other vehicle, Amy M. Rodriguez, 47 of Winters, was taken to Ballinger Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released. She was wearing a seat belt, according to the report. The crash is under investigation.
