The Great Western Cattle Trail runs through Coleman County. It was used in the late 19th century to move cattle and horses from south Texas to rail heads in Kansas and Nebraska. Several Great Western Trail markers can be found in Coleman County, marking where the trail was located. Coleman will celebrate its past this week during Great Western Trail Days 2022. Events begin today (Wed) and continue through Sunday. One of the major events is a Longhorn Show Saturday and Sunday at the Coleman Rodeo Grounds on Highway 206 South. Exhibitors from all across Texas have entered the Longhorn Show. See the list of activities below. Most events are free to attend.
