A Coleman County jury on Tuesday, April 5, sentenced a Santa Anna man to confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after he was found guilty of Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle.

According to Coleman County Sheriff Les Cogdill, a jury was seated Monday in 42nd District Court to hear the case against Ricky Lynn Reece, age 53.

The charge resulted from an April 6, 2021 two vehicle wreck which happened on the U.S. Highway 84 bypass and North Colorado Street in Coleman. Killed in the accident was Candace Barr, 53, of Abilene.

After hearing testimony, the jury found Reece guilty and sentenced him to serve 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
