Brown County Sheriff’s Report

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to numerous calls for service from March 19-27, including a combative DWI offender, thefts and burglaries out in the county.  See details below.

  • On Saturday, March 19, Deputy Joe Thomas conducted a traffic stop in the 3800 block of Hwy 279. This was after a near head on collision with another vehicle. After further investigation, an arrest was made for DWI 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Public Servant, and Unlawful Carrying a Weapon. A report was made.
  • On Monday, March 21, Lt. Bastardo was dispatched to Hwy 183 S. This was in regard to theft of a dog. Contact was made with complainant and a report was taken. Bastardo was later contacted and advised the dog had been returned. No further action is needed in this case.
  • On Tuesday, March 22, Deputy Saydie Bradley, received a call about a male walking down the road on Brin St. in Brownwood, TX, acting erratically. The male was located at the intersection of 377 South and Brady Ave. The male was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was made.
  • On Tuesday, March 22, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to CR 498. This was in regard to dogs damaging a vehicle. Information was gathered for a report.
  • On Tuesday, March 22, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to CR 215. This was for a report of suspicious activity. Information was gathered and a theft report was made.
  • On Thursday, March 24, at approximately 9 a.m., Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to CR 551 in Brownwood, TX. This was in reference to an animal complainant. Burke spoke with the victim, who advised his dogs had been attacked several times in the last few weeks by the same dog, at the same property, and while he was walking his dogs.
  • On Thursday, March 24, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to a follow up. A report was made.
  • On Thursday, March 24, Deputy Chris Angel, was dispatched to County Road 612. This was in reference to a theft.  A report was taken, and an investigation is underway.
  • On Friday, March 25, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to the Big G storage units on Hwy 279. This was for a report of burglary. Information was gathered and a report was made.
  • On Friday, March 25, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Deputy Nicolas A. Wood, was notified of a domestic disturbance, which occurred at Avenue C in Brownwood. An investigation was conducted, and a report will follow.
  • On Friday, March 25, Deputy Toby Mathis, spoke with a female in regard to her daughter’s pickup being stolen. Information was gathered and a report was made.
  • On Saturday, March 26 at around 2:05 p.m. Deputy Carlyle Gover responded to W US 67. This was in reference to the property owner returning to find the gate had been damaged. After further investigation, a report was made.
  • On Saturday, March 26, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to 12000 block of CR 105. This was for a report of illegal dumping. Information was gathered and a report was made.
  • On Sunday, March 27, Deputy Toby Mathis, along with other deputies, responded to an assault in progress at Field Dr., between two males who were both placed in custody for assault. Two more reports were made for a separate criminal mischief and assault family violence.
