Success on the soccer field for the Brownwood Lady Lions and Lions as they both earn playoff victories Friday evening.

LADY LIONS

The Brownwood Lady Lions earned an area round rematch with powerhouse San Elizario thanks to Friday’s 4-1 victory over Midland Greenwood in Class 4A Region I bi-district playoff action.

The Lady Lions (13-5-2) will tangle with San Elizario at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, looking to avenge last year’s season-ending 8-0 loss.

For the first time since 2015, the Brownwood Lions soccer program earned a gold ball, holding on for a 4-3 victory over Lubbock Estacado in Class 4A Region I bi-district playoff action Friday night.

With the win, first-year head coach and Brownwood alum Michael Westerman’s squad will next face San Elizario at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa in area round action.
