Howard Payne University’s Guy D. Newman Honors Academy, the Program for Civic Leadership and Public Policy, recently hosted retired Lt. Gen. Terry Scott for a unique and expert perspective on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking to and answering questions from approximately 80 HPU students and personnel, Gen. Scott identified causes and potential consequences of the conflict.

Prior to serving as the Honors Academy’s Brand Visiting Lecturer in Political Science (2003-2020), Gen. Scott directed the Harvard Kennedy School’s national security programs and taught at the United States Military Academy (West Point). In 1996, Gen. Scott, then serving as Commander U.S. Army Special Operations (Fort Bragg, North Carolina), retired from active duty following a highly-decorated 32-year career in the U.S. Army.
