An Eastland County Deputy has died while trying to save people from the fires Thursday night, according to a Cisco Police Department Facebook post.

It is with very heavy hearts that today we learned of the death of one our Eastland County Deputies who put it all on the line last night trying to save people from the horrible fires. Our sister, Barbara Fenley, will be deeply missed. She was a special servant and an attribute to our profession. We will kneel in prayer for her family, friends and colleagues as they mourn. RIP dear friend, you will be missed.
In a late Friday morning update from Incident Information from the Texas A&M Forest Service:
The Eastland Complex Fire in Eastland County is an estimated 45,383 acres and 4% contained. The map shows the four different fires that make up the Eastland Complex.
Aviation resources, including 3 large air tankers, helicopters and 3 fireboss single engine air tankers will be working on the fire today to help reinforce areas of concern.

FROM THE COLEMAN COUNTY CREWS GAP FIRE:
As of noon Friday, Coleman County fire departments and State of Texas firefighters continued to battle the Crews Gap Fire in western Coleman County. The latest from the scene is a helicopter is being used today to drop water on the fire. A large air tanker from Abilene is dropping retardant on the leading edge of the fire. Spot fires were still breaking out on the southeast or “head” of the fire, due to gusty northwest wind. The fire has burned up to County Road 446, has burned across County Road 449 and up to County Road 450. Firefighters have been able to keep the fire off Highway 153 and FM 2805. Officials confirm four houses have been destroyed in the fire. There have been no injuries reported and thankfully no fatalities. There have been other structures such as outbuildings, barns and a hunting camp also destroyed by the flames. The Texas A&M Forest Service as of early Friday morning listed the fire at 7,500 acres and 80% contained.
