Four Homes Destroyed in Coleman County Wildfire

As of 10:10 pm Thursday,  an Emergency Evacuation Order was still in effect for the community of Glen Cove, according to Coleman County Sheriff Les Cogdill.  State Highway 153 is still closed to traffic from FM 503 (east of Hords Creek Lake) to FM 2132 (west of Glen Cove).  We should have an update on the status of opening the road again before midnight and we’ll post that information here.  We have also learned that four homes have burned in the fire near Glen Cove and other structures, such as barns and outbuildings, have also been destroyed.  Numerous fire departments from all of Coleman County, Texas A&M Forest Service, firefighters from the area and law enforcement from various agencies and counties continue to work in and around the Glen Cove area.  From the San Angelo National Weather Service: Crews Gap Fire: located in western Coleman County – As of 9:07 PM, the fire is 7,000 acres and is 50% contained.
