Brown County Commissioners met Tuesday morning with all present and County Judge Dr. Paul Lilly presiding. Commissioners briefly discussed the Burn Ban but took no action which means the Burn Ban in Brown County remains in place.

Commissioners heard from Lisa Dick, Administrator of the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department. She reported to Commissioners that the 30 positive COVID cases reported last week is the lowest number of
weekly cases since November 12, 2021. It is also six weeks after the highest weekly total of 1,108.

“Vaccination rates have been slowing. We have not been doing as many vaccines in our county as we have over the past several weeks,” Dick said.  According to the COVID report issued on Friday, February 18, the percentage of Brown County residents vaccinated is 43.35%.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department presented the required annual Racial Profiling Report. The data is broken down by male and female and nationality.

The department reported 921 traffic stops made last year and nothing of concern in the report.  According to the presentation, no complaints of racial profiling were received by the Sheriff’s Department last year. No action was required on the part of Commissioners.

The sheriff’s department also reported the current jail population in the Brown County Jail was 160 inmates as of Tuesday morning, February 22, with 11 of those inmates being from out of county.
