It is with a heavy heart that we would like to announce the passing of Samuel “Chunky” Ervin Jr age 45.

He was born on July 3, 1976, in Austin, Texas and passed January 31, 2022, in Brownwood, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother Gloria, father Samuel, and sister Sharon. He is survived by his wife Tammy, his sister Monica, his daughter Makayla, and his stepchildren Cody and Alisha. He was a loving uncle to 6 nieces and nephews and a doting grandfather to his 2 grandsons and his 3 step-grandsons.

Chunky’s massive stature made him intimidating at first glance, but underneath that rough exterior lied a heart as big as he was. He was fiercely protective of his family and would give you his last dollar if you needed it. His presence in any room was undeniable. He loved to dance and sing, even if his moves were limited to his little two step or his air guitar. (If you know, you know.) He always had a dad joke to make you smile or a bear hug to make you feel safe. He loved dogs and was always bringing home strays, much to his wife’s dismay. He will be dearly missed and forever held dear in our hearts.

At this time there is no date or time scheduled for a memorial. He will be cremated, and his remains will be taken to be buried with his mother.
