Patricia was born on December 14, 1955, to J.C. and Grace Marie Edmondson. Patricia, alongside her parents and older brother, Johnny Kirk, grew up on the family ranch working cattle on the Colorado River and cultivating peanut fields. Patricia also spent countless hours pursuing her passion, barrel racing. If she was not in the practice pen, riding her barrel horses, she was turning out cattle for her calf roping brother.

On May 28, 1974, Patricia married her high school sweetheart, Sammy Smith, and moved to Mullin, Texas. Together, they built a life, a legacy, and a marriage that continues to be a testament to true love and dedication to each other and the vows they took before God. For 15 years, Patricia served as rodeo secretary for their stock contracting business, 4S Rodeo Company. Together, they traveled across Texas producing many successful rodeos, including the AJRA Finals from 1987 to 1992 and raising excellent bucking stock. In December 1977, Patricia received her most precious birthday gift, Felisha and in 1987 they welcomed Laci, each who shared Patricia’s passion and love for barrel racing and the rodeo way of life.

Patricia always challenged her daughters and grandchildren to be the best they can be and instilled in her family that “I can’t” is never an option. Patricia was always up for any adventure that involved her family, but her favorite was always rodeo. She demonstrated that any challenge is conquered with persistence and commitment. Patricia always had a smile on her face and was the epitome of living life to the fullest. Her infectious laughter will be missed.

Left to cherish Patricia’s memory is the love of her life, Sammy Smith; daughter, Felisha Seider and husband Chad of Mullin; grandsons, Hadley Seider & Michael Seider of Mullin; daughter, Laci Russell and husband Ryan of Mullin; granddaughter, Avery Russell & grandson, Kiptyn Russell of Mullin. Patricia is also survived by brother and sister-in-laws, Diltzie Edmondson, Tommy & Tyline Green, Joe & Faylene Phillips; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great & great-great nieces and nephews; many adored cousins; and her best friend of 44 years, Kathy Hunt.
