COVID Case Count Decreases, Hospitalizations Increase

Weekly Update:
In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 717 positive COVID-19 test results.

Of the 717 positives this week, 312 were PCR, and 405 were antigen.

Of the total number of cases reported this week, 184 cases met the breakthrough definition. This includes asymptomatic, mild symptoms, and severe symptom breakthrough cases.

There are 25 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19.

Two new deaths have been reported this week: one female in her 60s and one male in his 70s.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering COVID testing at their clinic located at 510 E. Lee Street. Testing is by appointment only. If you need to be tested for COVID, please do not walk into the clinic. Testing will be conducted at your vehicle in the parking lot. To make an appointment for a COVID test, call: 325-430-7603 or 325-643-3793Due to the increased demand for testing, it may take a day or two to schedule an appointment with the Health Department. Other testing options are your local primary care physician, urgent care clinics, and pharmacies. Please be patient with us as we attempt to serve the high volume of calls and requests for service at this time.

COVID-19 Vaccinations for Brown County:

  • People with at least one dose – 17,409
  • People fully vaccinated –  15,458
  • Boosters administered – 5,097
  • Percentage of people 5+ fully vaccinated – 42.81%

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 5 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older. Vaccination boosters are also available.
