Strong Cold Front Arrives Today, Bitterly Cold End of Week

As of 8:00 am Wednesday, a cold front was moving into the Texas South Plains and is forecast to move into the Brownwood area around noon to early afternoon.

From KOXE Meteorologist Randy Turner:  “Once the cold front passes through the KOXE listening area at mid-day today, look for temperatures to fall into the 30’s by sunset.  By Thursday morning expect temperatures in the low 20’s.  North wind of 20 to 30 mph will produce wind chills in the teens.  If there is any light mist or drizzle falling tonight or Thursday, it will freeze on contact with surfaces so it’s possible we’ll see a few slick spots going into Thursday.  Expect the high to reach only the mid 30’s Thursday.  The low Thursday night is forecast to be near 18 followed on Friday by a high of 44.”

Just south of the Brownwood area is a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Thursday morning at 6:00 am to Friday morning at 6:00 am.  A light glaze of ice is forecast for the Hill Country and South Central Texas.  Some of the towns and cities included in the Winter Storm Watch are Burnet, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Austin, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Del Rio and Victoria.
