Santa Anna ISD Cancels Classes Rest of Week

Santa Anna ISD is currently experiencing a high number of staff members tht are out sick with COVID-19, flu or other illnesses. According to a statement to students, parents and community members from Todd White, Superintendent:
“We have reached our limit on staff absences and one more employee missing due to illness would lead to a class of students being without an adult to supervise. Based on this scenario, Santa Anna ISD will be cancelling school for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. As Monday, January 17 is a school holiday, we will resume instruction on Tuesday, January 18th. This action will allow our staff to recover the 5 days of quarantine and other illnesses. The days missed will be similar to the situation of having three snow days. We will review the total number of minutes that will need to make up from the three days and adjust our calendar in a way that will benefit our students the most and share those calendar changes as soon as the decision is made.

Basketball games tonight (Tuesday) will go on as scheduled but the Friday game will be postponed with no basketball practices Wednesday through Friday. Students are still able to participate in the Coleman County Stock Show as planned. The Thursday night New Gym Committee will still meet in the cafeteria at 6:10 pm as planned, but we will spread out quite a bit more. Teachers are excused from the meeting, but will have the opportunity to share thoughts via email prior to the meeting.
