Stewart Boyd Chisholm of Los Angeles, California passed away Sunday January 2, 2022, at the age of 55. Stewart was born on July 14, 1966, in Edinburgh, Scotland and shortly after adopted by Henry and Moyra Chisholm. From a young age, Stewart developed a passion for learning and adventure. He was an avid reader and could always be found with a book in hand. With his intelligent nature, Stewart graduated from Brownwood High School in 1985 as one of the top 10 students of his class. He then attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications: Television and Media Studies with a minor in Russian in 1989.

His curious nature led him to live a well-travelled life. Following undergraduate school, Stewart relocated to Russia for about eight years where he became fluent in the language, working for several humanitarian organizations dedicated to helping others, such as overseeing grants for students coming to the U.S. for college, and exchange of knowledge from academia and industry between the U.S. and the region of the former Soviet Union. Stewart always looked back fondly on his time in Russia, sharing many fascinating stories.

Following his time abroad, Stewart returned to the U.S. to pursue his Master of International Affairs at Columbia University in New York City, New York. During his graduate studies, he was employed by large media companies, such as CNN and Bloomberg. Following his graduation, Stewart gained employment in Budapest, Hungary with the Open Society Foundations as an Associate Director to oversee the program’s global portfolio on media policy and freedom of expression. He was later promoted to Senior Program Manager and relocated to London, England.

With his charismatic personality, it is no surprise that Stewart built many friendships around the world. Those who knew him would say he was a good friend, someone who was always empathetic, compassionate, and able to make you laugh. His smile, laughter, and presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends around the world. He is survived by his parents, Reverend Dr. Henry and Moyra (Boyd) Chisholm of Brownwood, Texas; brother Kenneth Chisholm and husband Jeff Womack of Cookeville, Tennessee; brother Andrew and wife Delicia (Ochoa) Chisholm of Brownwood, Texas; and nephew Cameron Chisholm and fiancé Courtney Nguyen of Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by grandparents John and Jean Chisholm of Moneydie, Scotland; and grandparents John and Janet Boyd of Calgary, Alberta.
