AUSTIN, Texas – Howard Payne University’s Bria Neal led all scorers with 18 points in 71-57 Lady Jacket loss at Concordia University Texas Thursday evening in league play.
HPU’s Bria Neal was the game’s leading rebounder with seven along with three assists.
After shooting 18.6% from the field in the first quarter, the Lady Jackets posted a 61.5% shooting second quarter to trail 36-28 at the half.
Committing 22 turnovers in the game, HPU could not recover from the first quarter shooting in the 71-57 CTX final.
HPU’s Lily Janek followed Neal with 12 points. Salina Ali added 11 points and a game-high five assists. Catlyn Ward also recorded five assists in the game.
CTX was led by Kennedy Donovan with 14 points and Erin Toro with 12 points.
Howard Payne is now 3-9 overall and 1-7 in American Southwest Conference play. Concordia Texas stands at 4-8 overall and 2-6 in league action.
The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. It will be a 1:00 pm start time.
