Ruby Jo Shelton, age 101, of Brownwood, passed from this life on Monday evening, December 13, 2021, at the Songbird Lodge nursing home.

She was born January 29, 1920, in Regency, Texas the daughter of Joe and Robbie Mae (Perkins) Reid. Following her graduation from high school, she married James Patterson “Pat” Shelton who preceded her in death.  She had lived in the Brownwood area most of her life and had been a salesperson for several stores including Lavine’s, Thompson’s Surplus and later retiring from Motts.  She was a Baptist.

She is survived by her son, Paul Shelton and wife Eva of Brownwood, a sister, Tommie Dewbre of Brownwood, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Nancy Stanley.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 16, at the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 PM at the Davis-Morris Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home in Brownwood.
