Tim Jacobs, who has been a member of the Brownwood School Board for 12 years, resigned during Monday night’s school board meeting. The resignation was accepted by BISD Board of Trustees President Michael Cloy and approved unanimously by the remaining board members. Jacobs’ resignation is effective Dec. 31. The board later met in closed session, but no action was taken regarding who will fill the remainder of Jacobs’ term.
“Mr. Jacobs has submitted his resignation and it’s with some degree of sadness that I accept it,” Cloy said. “Tim has been on the board for quite a while now and made a fantastic contribution. It’s going to be difficult to come up here without you being here.”
“It’s just one of those things where when it’s time to move on to other things it’s time, and it’s a good time because things are going well at Brownwood ISD,” Jacobs said. “I’ve enjoyed working with Dr. Joe Young, Michael Cloy and the rest of the board. It’s been an honor and privilege. It’s a really good, cohesive board now. I feel like we’re effective, I feel like we have the school’s best interest at heart.”
