Ted Beard, age 88, of Brownwood passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021, at a local care facility.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Bill Slaymaker officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Ted was born on May 21, 1933, in Paris, TX to Dewey and Bertha (Johnson) Beard. Ted married Dorothy Hayes on March 20, 1953, in Brownwood. He owned and operated Ted Beard Appliance in Brownwood for 29 years and then worked for the Brownwood Independent School District for approximately 15 years in maintenance prior to his retirement. Ted loved hunting and fishing with his sons. He went hunting in Colorado for 26 straight years and loved it more each time.

He is survived by his son, Tommy Beard and wife Wendy of Brownwood; his grandson, Damon Beard of Brownwood; and his brother, Roy Beard and wife Linda of Paris, TX. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Beard; his parents, Dewey and Bertha; a son, Wayne Beard; and his siblings, Wilma Lee Clark, Bertha Mae Jones, Betty Jane Beard, Gerldeen Beard, Imogene Beard and Lloyd Beard.
