Seahawks Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams tore his labrum and sustained significant shoulder damage in Sundays game against the 49ers, and will undergo season-ending surgery.

Adams, 26, has racked up 87 tackles and has a career-high two interceptions as one of the Seahawks’ top defensive players. Adams exited Sunday’s win after suffering the shoulder injury; it’s the same shoulder he injured last year but played through, undergoing offseason surgery. Safety Ryan Neal will likely see an elevated role in Adams’ place.

Adams, who played college football at LSU, was drafted sixth in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jets. Last year, the Seahawks traded two first-round picks and additional compensation to acquire Adams. He’s made three straight Pro Bowls.
