The Early Longhorns will travel to Clyde tonight to face the Shallowater Mustangs in the Class 3A Division 1, Region 1, Area Championship game. Kickoff is at 7:00 pm. Both teams have 9-2 records.

Shallowater defeated Dalhart for a 56-18 bi-district victory, the seventh straight win for the Mustangs’ whose two losses came to Abernathy (28-16) in the season opener and Childress (30-28).

Against Dalhart, the Mustangs generated 385 yards of total offense – 263 rushing and 122 passing – and scored on kick returns of 84 yards by Trevor Winn and 70 yards by Keegan Campbell.

Early, a three seed in the playoffs, reached Area by blowing past Pilot Point 43-21 last week.
