Brown County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday to approve and accept a $10,000 donation to Brown County for first responders. The donation was made by Porfirio and Jennifer Dubon of the Dubon Family Foundation.
The Dubon’s, both 20 year Air Force veterans, own the Stagecoache event and entertainment center in Early.
“After we retired we decided that we were going to create a foundation to help homeless veterans, veterans and then the opportunity to do the same thing for first responders and their families as well as our youth came up, so we created this foundation,” said Porf Dubon.
On September 11th of this year they held a live music event at their facility on the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the United States. Proceeds from the event were matched by the Dubon Foundation to make the donation to the county and first responders possible.
“We thought it was the right thing to acknowledge those who have served the last 20 years, who served during 9-11,” Porf Dubon said.
But the giving doesn’t stop there. The Dubon Foundation plans to donate $10,000 to the local American Legion Post, $10,000 to the City of Brownwood and $10,000 to the City of Early.
