One person was killed in a fiery two vehicle crash on Monday, October 18, at 7:25 am two miles east of Cross Plains on State Highway 36.
According to the Department of Public Safety preliminary report, an unidentified Hispanic male was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was taken to Abilene Professional Services. He was driving a 2008 Acura MDX.
The driver of a 2008 Ford pickup was Alexander Isbell, 28, of Coleman. He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with serious injury.
According to the report, the 2008 Acura was traveling East on SH 36 while the 2008 Ford pickup was traveling West. The Acura crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with the pickup. The Acura then caught fire as both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation.
