GEORGETOWN – It took some late game heroics for Howard Payne University to secure a win over Southwestern University to remain unbeaten this season.  The Yellow Jackets are now 6-0 for the first time since 1999.  Howard Payne’s Otis Lanier hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass with 1:29 left in the game to give the Yellow Jackets a 21-17 lead. With Southwestern marching the other direction, it was Jake Parker in the secondary that picked off a Pirate pass with :52 seconds left to secure the victory.

HPU ia now 6-0 overall and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference action. Southwestern stands at 1-5 overall and 1-4 in league play.

The Yellow Jackets will be at home next Saturday to take on Belhaven University. It will be a 1:00 pm kickoff.
