The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release on Friday, October 8.

On October 7, 2021, at approximately 6:30am, officers with the Brownwood Police Department executed a search and arrest warrant at a home in the 2700 blk of 1st St.  The warrant was issued as a result of a Narcotics Division investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics in our community.

As officers approached the residence, they located 31 year old Juan Carlos Garcia of Brownwood, standing on the front porch, speaking with the homeowner.  Garcia was detained and the homeowner was given instructions to exit the residence as well.  The homeowner (named suspect for the warrant) was identified as 39 year old Nickolaus Craig Spruill.  Also located inside the residence was 29 year old Kayla Penelope Lane of Eastland, along with her 7 year old son who was sleeping in a back bedroom.

Spruill spoke with detectives and admitted to the presence of suspected methamphetamine as well as 2 shotguns.  Several small baggies of suspected methamphetamine totaling approximately 4 grams were located along with various prescribed narcotic pills which were wrapped as if able to sale individually.  Following the investigation, Spruill was arrested for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1, Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 2 (pills) and Endangering a Child.

Garcia was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1; as it was learned that he had just purchased suspected methamphetamine from Spruill when officers walked up to the porch.  Garcia was angry at this arrest and when a patrol officer arrived to transport him to jail, he head butted a portion of the patrol vehicle, causing a dent.  Garcia was also arrested for Criminal Mischief.

Lane was arrested for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 2 (pills) and Endangering a Child.

As of Friday night, Spruill was in Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $42,500, according to online jail records.

Garcia was in Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $26,000.

Lane’s bonds totaled $32, 500.  Jail records indicate she bonded out of  Brown County Jail on Friday, October 8.
