A group of Brown County citizens, concerned about their constitutional rights being trampled on by federal and state government, appeared before Brown County Commissioners Court on Monday, October 4.
They urged Brown County Commissioners to consider passing a Resolution to make Brown County a Constitutional County. Rusty Howell was the spokesman for the citizens.
“Concerned citizens that are here today feel like our constitutional rights are being overstepped. We really feel like that the solution to that is we make Brownwood a Constitutional County which means if there is any government overreach from state or federal levels on our constitutional rights we will stand as a block to defend those rights,” Howell said.
The citizens requested a Resolution, for Brown County to become a Constitutional County, be on the agenda for the next Commissioner’s meeting, which will be Tuesday, October 12, instead of Monday, October 11 due to the Columbus Day holiday.
“I think this is a first step of really getting our freedoms back because government that is closest to the people is the best government and we’re so thankful you guys are where you’re at and the heart you have to serve to protect the citizens of Brown County,” Howell said.
