Chief Wood dedicated himself to saving lives, mentoring others, and a life of high integrity with the Fire Service. Eddy embodied his lovable clown persona, while demonstrating humor, wit, and inventive playfulness. Eddy always put family first. He was a compassionate and considerate husband who truly believed he found his soulmate in Ann. Eddy could be seen putting on a spectacle with Bert the fire puppet, Daddy-saurus, and anything else which brought a smile to those around him.

Chief Wood’s warrior spirit sustained him through his battle with brain cancer, contracted through chemical exposure throughout his years in the Fire Service. Chief Wood started his public safety career in 1992 as a Dispatcher with the city of Azle. After basic fire training, he served as a full-time firefighter with the city of Azle. Eddy joined the North Richland Hills Fire Department in October 1998 as a firefighter/paramedic, and was promoted in 2009 to Battalion Chief. After he retired from North Richland Hills in 2017, he served as Fire Chief for the city of Brownwood until 2019. He then relocated to Saginaw, Texas as the Fire Marshall/Division Chief.

Chief Wood was a Master Mason, a Shrine Clown, President of the Moslah Shrine Clowns 2014, and well-known cowboy.
