A resident of the Chaparral Apartments in Brownwood, the corner of Belmeade and Magnolia,  was displaced following a fire Wednesday at noon.  The Brownwood Fire Department arrived at 12:06 pm and, according to  Brownwood Fire Chief Eric Hicks,  put out flames in a single unit of the apartment complex.

“We were able to extinguish that fire quickly using a pre-connected hose line.  One person was checked out for smoke inhalation.  Currently we are working with Red Cross to get some housing for that resident,” said Chief Hicks.  The resident did not have to be taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of 12:30 pm.  It appeared that damage was limited to that one apartment.
