Both Brownwood and Early celebrate school homecomings this week and both teams are favored to win their games going into the contests.

Brownwood will host the Burnet Bulldogs at 7:30 pm at Gordon Wood Stadium, a game which you can listen to on KOXE 101.3, KOXE.com and the KOXE App.

Since a 58-55 season-opening home win over Lampasas, Brownwood (1-2) has since suffered losses at Midland Greenwood (21-20) and  No. 4 China Spring (57-21).

Burnet (0-2) – which cancelled last week’s game due to a COVID outbreak – has fallen to 5A Division II programs Marble Falls (41-9) and Leander Rouse (44-7).

According to Harris Ratings Weekly, Brownwood is a 13-point favorite.

Early vs Merkel

Off to one of their best starts in school history, the Early Longhorns look to remain unbeaten as they host the Merkel Badgers at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 2021 homecoming contest.

The Longhorns (3-0) have started the season with victories over Bangs (48-12), Tolar (33-16) and Comanche (58-14), while Merkel (2-1) kicked off its season with wins over Reagan County (24-15) and Stanton (19-0) before falling to Hawley (41-7) last week.

According to Harris Ratings Weekly, Early is a 28-point favorite.
