Two Police Chief Candidates Introduced in Coleman

Monday night, August 23, at the Bill Franklin Center in Coleman, two finalists to be the next Coleman Chief of  Police were introduced to a crowd of about 40 interested citizens from Coleman and Coleman County.

The finalists are Justin Perron, current Chief of Police in Archer City, Texas and Scott Heagney,
currently working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Rockwall, Texas.

In his presentation, Perron (shown above) mentioned he has served as a Chief of Police for seven years.

Heagney (shown above) said he has been employed by the ATF for 20 years. and prior to that was a policeman for 15 years.

Each man was given 20 minutes to answer the same list of questions which were read by a moderator, questions which had been submitted by citizens. The candidates had met earlier in the day for interviews prior to attending the meet and greet. A third finalist for the job did not make the final cut.

After the questions had been asked, citizens were able to mingle with each man to ask any other questions and get to know them better.

An exact date as to when the new Chief of Police will be appointed is not yet known as the hiring
process continues.
