UPDATE – The highway was reopened to traffic at 11:42 this morning.
A two-vehicle crash in Brown County sent at least three people to area hospitals.
The accident was located approximately five miles south of Early on Highway 183/84. It happened between 9 and 10 o’clock this morning.
KOXE News was at the scene and witnessed two vehicles involved, a pickup which was facing south in the middle of the road and a car which was on the East side of the road, facing west. It appeared to be a head-on collision.
We haven’t talked directly with investigating DPS troopers but did witness two Air Evac helicopters arrive and depart the scene, one said to be going to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
An ambulance that left the scene was said to be in route to Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.
Where the accident happened is a four-lane highway. All four lanes were closed to through traffic. Traffic was diverted around Farm to Market Roads. TxDOT was called to clear the highway of debris.
The highway was reopened to traffic at 11:42 am.
No further information is available.
