On Sunday morning at approximately 4:10 AM, members of the Brady Police Department, McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office, and Brady EMS were dispatched to the 1600 Block of South Wall Street in reference to a gunshot victim lying in the street.

Upon arrival, first responders began life saving measures but those attempts were unsuccessful and Jason Allan Cumbie (a 40-year-old resident of Brady) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on what was learned at the scene, the collection of physical evidence and information provided by a witness, Michael Paul Tarr (also a 40-year-old resident of Brady) was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Murder. Tarr was then taken to the McCulloch Jail, where he was booked and jailed pending arraignment by a magistrate.

Justice of the Peace Maggie Sawyer ordered an autopsy, which will be performed on Tuesday morning.
