Local COVID Cases Drop Slightly This Week

The Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 169 positive COVID-19 test results. This compares to 184 last week.  Of the 169 positives, 72 were PCR, and 97 were antigen.

There are 14 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19.

One new death has been reported: a male in his 80’s, not a resident of a nursing facility.

Of the total number of cases reported this week, 23 cases met the breakthrough definition. This includes asymptomatic, mild symptoms, and severe symptom breakthrough cases.

Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood is operating the screening clinic again and offering no cost testing. Individuals should text “covidhelp” to 325-216-4824 to utilize this service.

COVID-19 Vaccinations:

o People with at least one dose – 13354 (466 additional)

o People fully vaccinated – 11392 (122 additional)

o Percentage of people 12+ fully vaccinated – 34.63%

30,883 is the estimated number of Brown County residents eligible for vaccination.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 12 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older. Vaccinations are available by appointment at the Health Department. Please call 325-646-0554 to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
