The Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls for service in recent days.
On August 9, Deputy Smoot responded to an ATV fire which was in the ditch of the highway and had spread to the grass in the 5600 block of Farm to Market Road 2632. The fire was put out by responding fire units and information was gathered from the driver. An information report was completed.
On August 10, Deputy Andre Smoot responded to a theft of ATV call on Highway 279 North. Pertinent
information was gathered and a report was completed for the ATV to be entered stolen.
On August 10, Deputy Andre Smoot observed a vehicle parked in the roadway on County Road 115 and Highway 279 N which was causing a road hazard. The vehicle was towed and a report was completed.
On August 10, Deputy Saydie Bradley spoke with a female subject about the ongoing public nuisance at
a home on Belfast. A report was made.

property on Terrace.
On August 10, at approximately 23:34, Deputy Nicolas A. Wood initiated a traffic stop on a red, 2004 Ford Mini Van at US 67 West and County Road 153. This was for a defective high mount brake light. After a consent search, the suspect was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 >1 gram.
On August 10, Deputy Toby Mathis conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 279 for no license plate displayed. Deputy Mathis contacted the driver who, at first, gave the deputy a Mexico ID card. During a consent search, Deputy Mathis located a Mexico passport with the driver’s real name. The driver was shown to have active misdemeanor warrants out of Bexar and Lampasas counties. Also located in the vehicle were 108 capsules of Tramadol. The man did not have a prescription for Tramadol. The drugs were seized
and a report was made.
On Wednesday, August 11, at about 12:23 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at Avenue C in Brownwood. This was in regards to criminal mischief. He spoke with a female victim who stated her tenant had damaged her residence prior to moving out. The victim stated the tenant also stole items from the residence prior to moving out.
On Wednesday, August 11, at approximately 12:55 pm, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to Neil Drive in reference to a possible trespassing report and investigation.
On Wednesday, August 11, at about 13:58 hours, Deputy Langley arrived on County Road 473 in regards to theft. He spoke to a man who stated a known male subject had taken a small floor jack and four way from his property.
On August 11, at 22:30 hours, Corporal Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to 1050 West Commerce, Brown County Jail, in regards to an inmate-on-inmate assault. Information was gathered and a report was taken.
On Thursday, August 12, at approximately 9:00 am, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to Berryman Lane in reference to a scam/information report.
On Thursday, August 12, at approximately 11:00 am, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to Waco #85 in reference to a burglary of a building report and investigation.
On Thursday, August 12, at about 15:06 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at West U.S. Highway 67 in Brownwood in regards to theft. He spoke to a victim who said her daughter had gotten into her safe and taken all her money.
On Thursday, August 12, at 15:05 hours, Corporal Bastardo was dispatched to a call on County Road 334 in regards to a theft which could be handled by public service. Contact was made with the complainant. Information was gathered and a report was taken.
