The steel walls are going up on a new hospital being built in Coleman.
Work on the new addition to Coleman County Medical Center ( CCMC) officially went vertical in the last two weeks, giving the community its first 3-D glimpse of the new facility.
“Anyone driving by has probably seen the crane operating on the construction site,” noted Wayne Moore, CCMC District president. “This is a real milestone for our project.”
According to Clay Vogel, CCMC administrator, hospital physicians and staff have all seen the hospital addition on architectural drawings, but now can walk through the area and get a better feel for how the rooms are laid out, and how the facility will function once completed.
“There has been a lot of progress on the project since construction started in January 2021, but most of the work has been underground and essentially invisible to the casual observer,” explained Jeff Newland, project manager for Lott Brothers Construction, the general contractor hired by the Coleman County Medical Center District.
Major components of the project completed to-date include building demolition, site preparation, underground utility work, and pouring of footings and foundation.
The original project schedule, while delayed by the ice storm and the abnormal amount of rain in the area, is continuing to track for an early spring completion of Phase 1. The remainder of the campus will be completed by the fall.
