Members of North Lake Community Church at May, Texas recently adopted Brown County Fire Departments, pledging to do something special for them to let them know their service is appreciated.  This will be an ongoing endeavor by church members stretching throughout the county.

The latest stop was Monday at the Brownwood Fire Department Central Fire Station.  About one dozen members of the church gave watermelons to the firemen for their enjoyment.  In turn church members received a tour of the station and firetrucks.

“We want them (firefighters) to know that we care about them, that God loves them and we do too,” said Dee Hart of NLCC.

Earlier in the day, North Lake church members presented a $100 gift card from United Supermarkets to Miranda Hicks who was honored with the First Responder Award, a quarterly award given by Brown County.  Hicks was the first recipient of the award.
