Ernesto Ramirez passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on July 7th, 2021. He battled a terminal illness.  Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his illness with strength and grace.  He fought a good fight and battled till the end.

Ernesto was born on November 7, 1944 in Mereta, Texas to Benito and Isabel (Recio) Ramirez.  He spent most of his adolescent years in Eden, Texas. While he was in high school he was very active in athletics and played baseball and tennis.  He graduated from Eden High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Adelaida Martinez. Ernesto retired from Santa Fe Railroad after working for them for 31 years. His career for Santa Fe took him many places. In 1973, he started his career in Brownwood, Texas.  He retired in Topeka, Kansas in 2004. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He went on yearly fishing trips with friends he made while working for Santa Fe. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips with his buddy J.R. Later in life he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Harris on May 13, 1999, in Stephenville.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Garcia and husband Jesse of Comanche; daughter, Claudia Sabedra and husband Michael of Prosper; daughter, Shayla and husband James (Jimbo) Slayton of Brownwood; one brother, Cruz Ramirez of Eden; grandchildren: Zenaida Walton of Comanche; Chance Garcia and Jaycee Hohertz of Comanche; Andrew Garcia of Comanche, Moses Garcia and Kolbey Robinson of Comanche; Drake Sabedra of Prosper; Mikayla and husband Michael Garcia of Prosper; Madison (Bitzy) Sabedra of Prosper; great-grandchildren; Bronson, Lorali and Jasper Garcia of Comanche; Mason and Madelyn Garcia of Prosper; other survivors include:  Tim Evans of Rising Star, Tony Evans of California, and Steven Chambers of Richland Springs; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, which he named “Come-On.”  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Ramirez; his parents Benito and Isabel Ramirez.

Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Pioneer Cemetery near Cross Plains with Reverend Jeffrey Pitman and R.J. Martinez officiating.

Lunch for the family will be at New Life Pentecostal Church following the graveside service.
