Brownwood Lion Head Coach Sammy Burnett brought a special guest with him for the Brownwood Lions Coach’s Show on Wednesday afternoon on KOXE at 5:30 pm.

The newest member of the Brownwood Lions’ football coaching staff, Craig Jackson (right), joined Coach Burnett.

Jackson comes to Brownwood after a three-year stint in Sweetwater where he coached the offensive line. In Brownwood, Jackson will be coaching the defensive line and also assisting with the offensive line.

“He’s going to be double timing for us, we have to use that experience,” Burnett said. “Coach Jackson brings a lot of knowledge and we’re blessed to have another former head coach and former coordinator working for us. The more coaches we can have to see what’s going on and teach our freshmen and sophomores at the high school level the better off we’re going to be.”

Jackson went to school in Massachusetts, then attended college at Abilene Christian where he was a walk on offensive lineman for the football program. Coaching stops for Jackson include Sweetwater, Blanco, Roma, Pecos, Louise and Hallettsville as an assistant, and he served as head coach at Booker and Rosebud-Lott.

“It’s a great staff that Coach Burnett has put together here and I’m excited about it,” Jackson said. “I’ve got a connection with Coach (Brett) Mouser, I coached him when he was in high school and I coached with his dad in Blanco for eight years. Brownwood has a great tradition and when I saw the job pop up I thought I had to send my resume, I had to try, and here I am. I’m excited and ready to be a Lion.”
