“Wow” and “cool” were common words heard Thursday morning as children in the Brownwood Public Library Summer Reading Club took a field trip to the Brownwood Regional Airport.  There were several airplanes parked on the apron that kids could look at.  An Air-Evac medical helicopter and crew attracted much attention as the kids could meet the personnel and look inside the craft.

Daniel Shelton, who is in charge of the summer reading club this year, gave a brief welcome to the group inside the office and pilots lounge area.

“Today we partnered with the airport to get the kids out and learn more about the Brownwood Regional Airport,” Shelton said.  He was expecting approximately 100 kids and their parents and grandparents to attend.

After gathering in the airport office area, kids, parents and grandparents made their way outside. Several law enforcement, ambulance and fire personnel brought their vehicles for the kids to enjoy.

Next up, Art in the Park will take place behind the Library from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on July 1st.

The next summer reading club program is the Magic Jay Show at the Adams Street Community Center on July 8 with sessions at 10 or 11:30 am.
