Pat “W.P.” O’Bryan, 82, of Brownwood

Pat “W.P.” O’Bryan, age 82 of Brownwood, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center North in Abilene after a short illness.

Funeral Services for Pat will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Allen Beadel officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Pat was born on May 15, 1939, to Robert Lloyd O’Bryan Jr. and Mary Vanita Yates in Abilene. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1957. Pat served in the Texas National Guard 36th Division from 1956 to 1960, then joined and served in the United States Army Reserve 90th Division from 1960 to 1962.

Pat worked at the State School for several years. While working for the State School, Pat became a commercial pilot. He was a pilot for Ross Company for a number of years in the 1980’s. Pat then went on to pilot for FedEx for 18 years before he retired in 2004.

Pat was active in a number of organizations including, Masonic Lodge serving as a 50-year Mason, NRA (National Rifle Association) as a Benefactor Supporter, Central Texas Veterans Memorial as past President, and was active in the Texas Power Wagon Reunion. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Pat is survived by his son, Joel O’Bryan of Tucson, AZ; grandson, Rowan Smith of Tucson, AZ; wife, Wanda Russell O’Bryan of Brownwood; stepchildren, Roy Russell of PA and Raye Ann Russell of OK; and his dog, Winnie.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Smith; a son, Danny O’Bryan; and his mother, Vanita Martin Bell.
